Mr Kennedy he has over ten years’ experience working in the sector in different capacities in areas of program management, social policy, youth, children rights and advocacy.
Kennedy has served as a Research Coordinator in a global study on the ‘Effects of Social Policy Changes on Adolescents at Risk of Violence’ implemented by International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the University of Ottawa in Canada in conjunction with the University of Nairobi and African Network for the Protection and Prevention Against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Regional Office for a period of 4 years between 1998 and 2001.
He served as the Program Manager for ANPPCAN Head Office in charge of child labour and child rights advocacy programs for a period of 4 years from 2002 to January 2005.
He has also served as the Program Manager, Acting Country Director and Regional Technical Advisor for the German Foundation for World Population for a period of two years between 2005 and 2007.He has participated in many studies and evaluations as a consultant with Resource Use and Capacity Building in Kenya (RUCBIK LTD) and in his individual capacity since 2007. The Program Manager has managed complex programs including some funded by European Union, International Labour Organization/International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (ILO/IPEC) Anti-Slavery International, Rotary International and other charitable organizations.
He has wide experience in advocacy and lobbying policy makers gained from previous work lobbying and advocating for education, labour, youth and children policies at the national level, in project design and grants management as well as in monitoring and evaluation.
He holds a Master of Arts in Sociology and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work both degrees from the University of Nairobi. Kennedy will bring in lessons gained in working with young people, working and advocating with government authorities, department, leaders and key policy makers, mobilization and organizational development of groups, project cycle management, financial management, reporting and monitoring and evaluation to the success of implementation of the proposed project.
